Stop-Motion Animation / Professional Development (adults)
Stop motion animation is an exciting cross-disciplinary digital tool for communicative language teaching. In this workshop teachers will discover how stop motion can provide a method for teaching foreign languages in a task based learning environment. The hands-on workshop provides language educators the scaffolding required to lead a stop motion animation workshop themselves. Participants will become familiar with the free software while learning fundamental techniques like speed, appearance, rotation, transformation and replacement. In addition, the workshop will explore how diverse themes and topics can be successfully explored with heterogeneous learning groups while strengthening oral communication through carefully facilitated group work in the target language. Along with the collaborative and visual aspects of the animation - participants, and later students, will write, and narrate and screen their own animated short films.
