English Debating Skills Workshop / Grades 9-13

Expressing an opinion in a foreign language is one thing, but engaging in debate – and hopefully persuading someone – is a higher skill altogether. Debate Skills Workshop teaches a ‘360-degree’ approach where participants choose debate topics that matter to them before understanding and articulating the counter position. Students learn and develop rhetorical vocabulary and turns of phrase along with the attitude and confidence needed to be a persuasive speaker. One-on-one feedback and coaching are given to hone the unique insight and voice of each student.

How it Works

The English Debate Skills Workshop takes place over the course of 2-3 days with 6 x 45-minute lessons per day. Working with our team of actors and Native Speakers students will have the chance to practice debating pro and contra arguments in English on a range of topics.
